Shore Educational Collaborative

Our Guiding Principles

Shore’s guiding principles spring from its core strenghts-experience, knowledge, and respect. These principles enable the Collaborative to deliver on its promise of success for every individual.

1. Professional Excellence

Shore professionals are among the most highly trained in their fields. Staff members are specialists in education, reading, information technology, behavioral analysis, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language pathology, nursing, art, music, curriculum development, counseling, provision of direct service and other areas. All of Shore’s professionals are certified and licensed and meet overall standards as defined by the Department of Education and Department of Mental Retardation. All programs are accredited or licensed by appropriate state and federal agencies.

2. Individual Attention

For every student and adult, the Collaborative begins with a thorough understanding of individual strengths. These strengths are the basis for each individual’s plan, which maps out a service delivery schedule and course of action for the learner. Shore is fully committed to the success of everyone, no matter how great the challenge.

3. Lifelong Learning

A hallmark of Shore Educational Collaborative is its commitment to lifelong learning, rich personal growth and life experience. Shore provides a continuum of specialized services from early childhood through adulthood. This commitment engenders confidence and security, enabling the learner to continue to grow at the highest level of achievement throughout his or her life. This continuity of service ensures participants, their families and funding sources that Shore’s experience, knowledge and respect will always be there as transitions are made throughout a person’s life experience.

4. Responsiveness

The Collaborative responds quickly and professionally to referral and service requests from school districts and from the Department of mental Retardation – whether they require immediate or longer-term action. The Collaborative constantly seeks new ways to extend and share its deep experience and knowledge on all aspects of education, professional development, financial management and community-based services.

5. Strong Management

The Collaborative’s professional yet personal approach to administering and managing educational programs and services ensures responsible allocation and full utilization of resources. By assisting school districts and the Department of Mental Retardation to professionally manage the costs and delivery of programs, Shore is able to help them do more for greater numbers of individuals
