Owen School Dedication, September 2004

A new state-of-the-art, 50,000 square foot school facility within the Shore Educational Collaborative in Chelsea was recently dedicated in memory of Shore’s former director, Henry W. Owen. The school, located at 100 Revere Beach Parkway, serves special needs students ages 3 to 22 who require intensive and specialized educational programs.

At the dedication ceremony, Shore Executive Director Anne Booth praised Henry "Hank" Owen for being "instrumental in the development of the Massachusetts Organization of Educational Collaboratives and the Shore Educational Collaborative." He believed that collaboration is an essential tool towards the achievement of excellence in education.

The Henry W. Owen School features an early learning center, elementary school, middle school and high school as well as a computer lab, library, vocational kitchen, gym and therapy room. The school offers educational, vocational, clinical and therapeutic services that focus on developing students’ skills for life, academic achievement and integration into public school settings. Providing these services is a dedicated Shore staff of teachers; speech/language pathologists; occupational therapists; home trainers; autism and reading specialists; school-certified, registered nurses; psychologist; school counselors and support staff.
Referrals to the Owen school are made by member districts through their Directors of Special Education.
